A dusty nursery

John Vermette, taken from Starfront Observatories near Brady, Texas

The young star cluster IC 348 lies embedded in the Perseus molecular cloud near the emission nebula LBN 749, lies roughly 1,000 light-years away in Perseus and hosts newborn stars swaddled in dust and gas. The imager collected 16 hours of exposure with a 4-inch scope with a one-shot color camera.
