A solar eclipse gallery

Review the last 12 terrific eclipses of the Sun.
RELATED TOPICS: SOLAR ECLIPSE
In the November 2013 issue of Astronomy, Joel K. Harris previewed the November 3 total solar eclipse in the story “Totality crosses Africa.” For those of you planning to travel to view this eclipse — and especially for those who won’t be going — we present a picture show of the last 12 solar eclipses.

Not all the eclipses here were total, but all featured a lineup of the Sun and Moon that cast at least part of our satellite’s shadow somewhere on Earth. Enjoy!
