The July issue of Astronomy features longtime astroimager Dean Salman. One of his passions is to record the many faint objects in the Sharpless Catalog. Most Sharpless targets lie beyond the visual range for all but the largest amateur telescopes. And, as the image gallery below reveals, the Sharpless Catalog contains gems that are intricate, delicate, and beautiful.
