Although winter winds still stir our atmosphere, breaths of warmer air become more frequent as spring approaches. The balmier weather makes for near-perfect viewing. Mars appears high in the sky, on the border of Taurus and Gemini, yet telescopic views have become more of a challenge. Saturn makes up for any martian shortcomings. The ringed planet looks spectacular from its perch in Leo, as it climbs in the east after sunset.
