In this episode, Astronomy magazine Editor Emeritus Dave Eicher invites you to look to the southeast on the evening of March 29 to catch the Moon next to the brilliant star Regulus — the brightest star in Leo the Lion. The two objects are a dramatic demonstration of depth of field: The Moon, our closest celestial neighbor, will be about 235,000 miles (380,000 kilometers) away while the star Regulus lies 79 light-years away. Clear skies!
