After earning a bachelor's degree in English from Marquette University, Chris began his career in magazine publishing as a member of the Astronomy staff in 1988, where he worked with Richard Berry, Robert Burnham, and this "kid who'd founded his own deep-sky magazine," aka David J. Eicher. Several years later, Chris left Kalmbach to further enhance his editorial education, working on publications such as Milwaukee Magazine and Fishing Facts, while also crafting articles for numerous other titles as a freelance author. In 1998, Chris assumed the role of editor of The Director, the world's most widely read magazine for funeral directors, before returning to Astronomy and Kalmbach in 2010.Beyond magazine publishing, Chris collects PEZ, a collection steadily approaching 600 dispensers; enjoys riding his BMW motorcycle despite living in "Harley Town"; regularly searches convenience-store racks for new and different mint types/packaging; loves all things tech; and was the longtime editor of a newsletter devoted to Mac/Apple users.
