Auroral eruption

Aurorae, clouds, and terrain combine to create the illusion of a vortex of light erupting from the mountains, seen from Tungeneset on the Norwegian island of Senja in this shot taken Feb. 6. The photographer used a Sony mirrorless camera and 14mm lens at f/1.8 to take a 2.5-second exposure at ISO 1600.
