On the prowl with the OWL Telescope

The Overwhelmingly Large (OWL) Telescope is the largest optical and near-infrared telescope in the works. Planners at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) envision a 328-foot-wide (100 meters) colossus that operates in open air and a sliding enclosure to house the scope during the day.
