In February 2007, physicists Gary Shiu and Brent Underwood at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, published a method that may help unlock the universe’s hidden dimensions. The study, which appeared in the journal Physical Review Letters, demonstrates that the cosmic microwave background (CMB) can be used to decipher the fingerprint of extra dimensions.
