IC 5068 in Cygnus is sometimes called the Forsaken Nebula, as it sits just about 1° away from the ever-popular Pelican (IC 5070) and North America (NGC 7000) nebulae. Stephen James O’Meara dubbed it the Black Waterfall in our May 2017 issue for the dark rivulets of dust that fall across the glowing bands of hydrogen, forming a watercolor effect. This image represents 14.3 hours of exposure with a 14-inch scope in the Hubble palette.
