Nishimura approaches

Gerald Rhemann, taken from Martinsberg, Lower Austria

Comet Nishimura (C/2023 P1), discovered just Aug. 12, has sprouted a thin ion tail as it nears perihelion later this month. “Despite Moon and low altitude and dusk, the comet was incredible,” reports Rhemann. This shot was taken with an 8-inch scope and LRGB exposures of 75, 100, 100, and 100 seconds. Learn more about Comet Nishimura – including where you can see it and when – here.
