Eye in the sky

The Helix Nebula (NGC 7293) — sometimes called the Eye of God (or the Eye of Sauron) — is a planetary nebula about 650 light-years away in Aquarius. It formed when a star similar to the Sun shed its outer layers, leaving behind a hot white dwarf. The imager combined roughly 75.7 hours of data in the Hubble palette using 6- and 8-inch refractors to reveal fine filaments and knots.
