Cosmic trifecta

Drew Evans, taken from outside Flagstaff, Arizona

The Trifid Nebula (M20) gets its name from its three-lobed appearance, but it’s also a trifecta of nebulae: emission, glowing in red Hydrogen-alpha light; reflection, in pale blue tones; and dark, with lanes of dust cutting across it. This LRGB image was taken over 19.4 hours with a 10.2-inch scope.
