Airglow in Spain

The Milky Way arcs in the sky over a dark blue waterscape with a pier and an island cutting through the center of the scene. Airglow is also visible at both ends of the panorama, a hazy pale green close to the horizon.

The Milky Way is accompanied by the pale light of airglow in this panorama of the pier at Vila Nueva del Fresno in Spain. Airglow — the aurora-like phenomenon of persistent luminescence in the upper atmosphere — is rare in this area of Spain, the imager reports. This is a mosaic of ten 240-second exposures taken with a Canon EOS R6 and a 15mm lens at f/2.8 and ISO 640.
