As we saw in the March 2011 article “The Crab Nebula’s everlasting mystery,” the Crab Nebula (M1) has a lot to offer astronomers of all stripes. It’s literally a textbook example of certain astrophysical processes, and yet it continues to surprise researchers with its oddities.
