Reach for the stars

Chris Cook from Long Beach, California

The Milky Way arches over the Racetrack Playa, a dry lake bed in Death Valley National Park, California. The Racetrack is famous for its sailing stones, which move along the lakebed when ice forms and melts, leaving tracks on the lakebed. This panorama consists of five 20-second exposures taken with an astromodified Canon DSLR at ISO 6400 and a 15mm lens at f/2.8.
