The USNO's 20-cm (8 inches) astrograph — a telescope specialized for photographic sky surveys — currently features an "electronic eye" consisting of a 4096 X 4096 pixel CCD camera. This detector will soon be replaced by four individual 110 megapixel CCD "superchips" (shown above) in a four-chip mosaic.
