Discovered by the Spitzer Space Telescope, a dense cloud of dust envelops the star HD 69830. The cloud comes from constant impacts and the relentless grinding of rocky bodies orbiting the star in an alien asteroid belt. In the foreground, this artist’s view show a hypothesized rocky planet lying just outside the belt where its gravity corrals the belt’s outward extent.
