These two images show opposite sides of Uranus, with the planet's north pole at 4 o'clock. Each is a false-color composite of near-infrared images taken with the Keck NIRC2 camera on July 11/12, 2004. The planet's ring system appears red. The isolated, relatively bright green cloud (lower left edge of the right-hand image) is a long-lived feature that oscillates in latitude. The diameter of Uranus in these images is about 3.6 arcseconds", so the effective image resolution is about 0.06".
