Faint blue stars merge in a soft smudge in this processed image of SDSSJ1049+5103, a new dwarf galaxy (or oddball globular cluster) belonging to the Milky Way. Located in Ursa Major, the object may be part of a population of small, extremely faint galaxies on the Milky Way's fringes.
