Astronomy magazine’s August issue is dedicated to rocks from space. This special edition uncovers the treasure trove locked inside meteorites, goes inside Arizona’s Meteor Crater, tells you how to start a meteorite collection, and introduces you to a space-rock hunter who travels the globe looking for these precious stones.

This week’s podcast goes into many of the issues covered in the August issue. Astronomy Editor David J. Eicher and Senior Editor Michael E. Bakich, both experts and space-rock collectors, give a comprehensive introduction to meteorites. They explain how to identify a meteorite, how to tell one space rock from another, and where to start if you want to become a collector. If you are new to metorites, but want to know where to begin, this is one show you’ll want to listen to.
