Probably no one has influenced the process of documenting the sky’s nightly changes more than Brian Geoffrey Marsden. His tenure at the helm of CBAT, from 1968 to 2000, led to seismic changes in how to report new asteroids, how to name and designate new comets, and how to handle exploding stars (supernovae).
