Summer sky treats

Here's how to find some of summer's brightest objects.

Meade's handbox controller with Autostar allowed me to program this beginner's-level tour you can download into your controller. Use this Autostar tour with your Meade go-to telescope. The software will help you to identify the stars and deep-sky objects listed in "Find your way through the summer sky," which appeared in the July 2008 issue of Astronomy. Once you find the brightest star of a constellation, use the sky chart in the center of the magazine to help you identify the entire star pattern.
