| Get ready to explore the largest canyon system in the solar system. Mars' Valles Marineris Mariner Valley comprises several parallel, connecting troughs. It extends east-west about 2,000 miles (3,000 kilometers), spans 420 miles across (700 km), and digs more than 26,000 feet (8,000 meters) deep. It puts the "grand" in grand canyon Valles Marineris stretches some 7 times longer, 40 times wider, and 4 times deeper than Earth's Grand Canyon. |
