Encouraged by the success of last year’s astroimaging-themed issue, the staff at Astronomy has decided to revisit the topic. Astrophotography is a facet of amateur astronomy I’ve never embraced, primarily because of its relative complexity and expense (I’m a technologically challenged cheapskate). I might never have dabbled in the activity were it not for the advent of digital photography — specifically, the camera function of an ordinary cellphone.
