Here's an image of the Hunter's Moon, taken with a Philips web cam and a 80mm telescope. The image is being shown on our local news channel tonight.
Here's one with a bat crossing in front of the moon.
And of course, there were birds.

Great shots! Love 'em. Thanks!
I went out with my crummy little binocs, only to find out I can't stand still enough. I don't know how people hold them steady enough. It was still kinda neat looking at the full moon. I did notice something I'm sure everyone here is alreadsy aware of - while looking there was a thick glare or wash around the moon. What allows one to diminsh this effect?

Nice shots, Kevin. It's good to know that Luna is up there doing her thing. You couldn't prove it from here. The three shots with the birds aren't all the same bird are they? The latter two look like a hawk, or eagle, but that first one looks to have the legs of a waterfowl.

Terry - The second and third images are the same bird, I agree with you on the first. It seems to have longer legs like waterfowl.

That's nice. I took some shots of the moon last night too. It was so bright, that's all I could see.
How did you get your images on the news? That's great!

How did you get your images on the news? That's great! I've known the Senior Meteorologist there since back in the 80's, when I worked at a local radio station. Back then, they called radio stations to get the high and low temperatures for the area. I usually send him an image of whatever event is going on at the time, whether it's one of the named full moons, a planetary alignment, a lunar eclipse, severe weather, or even a Space Station fly by. The news station's website also posts a lot of viewer images through their See it, snap it, send it program.

My, thats a lot of bird transists, or bird-n-bat, as the case may be!
Thanks for sharing these,

leo731:My, thats a lot of bird transists, or bird-n-bat, as the case may be! Yes it was. It seems the hunted, liked flirting with the hunter's moon. That wasn't all of them. There were a lot more bat transits that I didn't bother saving, or posting.

Convert that to gray scale and see how it looks. Moon shots usually look better and more natural in gray scale than they do in color, especially through an achromatic refractor.
You got birds flying around in yours. I get Bats and the occasional Fighter jet and Helicopter. I was watching my screen last night when the web cam was on and saw bats zipping around a few times. I figured it would be getting to cool for them already. I guess as long as there are insects still buzzing around they will too.
