Mount Wilson Observatory, located near Los Angeles, California, will be celebrating its 100th year in 2004. This timeline takes a look at the observatory's venerable history. 1904George Ellery Hale's spent his first year on Mount Wilson. The Snow Solar Telescope became the first instrument installed on the mountain — a loan from Yerkes Observatory in Wisconsin.
